Terms of use
These are the terms for using PriceBench at pricebench.co.uk. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. "I" and "me" mean Paul Woods, a sole trader based in Glasgow, Scotland. "You" means the person or business using PriceBench.
What PriceBench is
PriceBench is a tool that helps tradespeople work out the hours and materials for a job and produce quotes, invoices and order lists. It is for use in your trade or business. By creating an account you confirm you are not using it as a consumer.
The figures are a guide, not advice
The hours, material lists, sizes and prices PriceBench suggests are starting points based on typical work. They may be wrong for your job, your area or your supplier. You must check every quote, invoice, order list and calculation before you use it. You are responsible for the prices you quote, the work you do, following all the rules that apply to your trade (such as gas, electrical, water and building regulations) and holding any registration or insurance your work needs. Nothing in PriceBench replaces a proper survey, a manufacturer's instructions or your professional judgement. The same goes for the standard terms, the 14-day cancellation wording and the landlord check guides and reports the app can print: they are a starting point, not legal advice, and you are responsible for the terms you give your customers and the records you sign.
Your account
Keep your password private and tell me if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what is done under your login. Please give accurate details when you create your account.
Free early access
The whole app is free to use until payments open, planned for the start of February 2027. I will email account holders and people on the waitlist at least 14 days before free early access ends. Anyone who gives their email to join the waitlist gets these essential emails, whether or not they tick the box for other updates. Anyone who creates an account after free early access ends gets a 7-day full trial. No payment details are required to start, and until free early access ends you do not need an account to make and send PDFs. After free early access ends, without an account you can still work out a quote and copy it, but making and sending a PDF requires a free account. When your free early access ends and you have not subscribed, your account becomes read-only: you can sign in and open, copy and print your existing jobs, but you cannot save new ones. I do not delete your jobs when free early access ends.
Price and payment
After free early access ends, the price is £15 a month for one user, with no VAT added while I am not VAT registered. Founding member offer: the first 10 firms that join the waitlist and then subscribe to the Solo plan pay a fixed £11.25 a month, which is 25% off the £15 Solo price, for their first 12 months, counted from their first payment. The £11.25 stays the same for those 12 months whatever happens to the Solo price, and after the 12 months the Solo price at that time applies. You join the waitlist by leaving your email on the pricebench.co.uk front page or in the app, and you must do this before you subscribe. Firms are counted in the order their first payment goes through. I will email you to confirm whether you have the offer. The offer applies to the Solo plan only, ends if you move to another plan, and cannot be combined with any other offer. It also ends if you cancel your subscription or if a failed payment is not put right within 14 days, and it does not carry over if you subscribe again. There is one offer for each business, even if the business gives more than one email address. A place that is given up is not offered to anyone else. Once 10 firms have taken the offer, it is closed. A Team plan is planned but is not available yet, and nothing in these terms promises a date or a price for it. Subscriptions run month to month and renew automatically, so you are charged each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, for example by emailing [email protected], and keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. I do not give refunds for part months unless the law says I must. If I change the price, I will tell you at least 30 days beforehand and it will not change until your next payment after that. If online payment fails or you cancel, you keep read-only access to your jobs.
Your information
Your jobs and business details belong to you. You give me permission to store and process them only so I can run PriceBench for you. How I handle personal information is explained in the privacy policy. You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time.
Your customers' details
When you put your own customers' details into PriceBench (names, phone numbers, emails, addresses and photos), you decide why and how they are used. You are the controller and I am your processor. I store them, show them to you and print them on your paperwork for as long as your account is open, and I act only on your instructions unless the law requires otherwise. Anyone who can access them must keep them confidential. I keep them secure. I use only the service providers named in the privacy policy, and I will email you at least 30 days before I add or change one, so you can object or close your account. I tell you without undue delay if there is a breach, and help you answer your customers' requests about their information and meet your own data protection duties. When you ask, or when your account ends, I delete them or give them back to you, unless the law says I must keep them. I will give you the information you reasonably need to show that I keep to this. You are responsible for telling your customers how you use their details.
What you must not do
Do not use PriceBench to break the law, to try to get into other people's accounts, to overload or damage the service, to copy the app or its data tables in order to sell or give them to others, or to send me anything harmful.
Who owns what
PriceBench, its software, wording, guides and starting prices belong to me. You may use them to run your own business while you have an account. Your jobs and business details stay yours.
Keeping the service running
I work hard to keep PriceBench available and correct, but it is provided "as it is" and I cannot promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions. I may change features, add or remove tools, or pause the service for maintenance. Keep copies of important quotes and invoices you send. I am not responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside my reasonable control, such as a failure of the internet, the power supply or one of my service providers. If I ever need to close PriceBench, I will give you at least 30 days' notice so you can take your jobs out.
Responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, I am not responsible for losses that come from you using a suggested figure without checking it, such as an under-priced job, an order of the wrong materials, or work done to the wrong specification, or for loss of profit, business or goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss. My total responsibility to you for anything connected to PriceBench is limited to the greater of £100 or the amount you paid me in the 12 months before the problem arose.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using PriceBench at any time. I may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where that is reasonable.
Changes to these terms
If I change these terms in a way that matters, I will update the date above and tell account holders by email before it applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts can deal with any dispute, although this does not take away any rights you have by law where you live.
