Privacy policy

Last updated 2 November 2026

This explains what information PriceBench holds about you, why, and what your rights are. It is written in plain English on purpose.

Who runs PriceBench

PriceBench is run by Paul Woods, a sole trader based in Glasgow, Scotland. Under data protection law, I am the "controller" of your information, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (reference ZC290021). You can contact me at [email protected]. This will change to a company name if I set one up, and I will update this page.

What I collect

InformationWhy
Your email address and a password (stored scrambled, not readable)To create your account and let you sign in
The jobs you save: customer names, site addresses, notes, prices, quotes and invoicesTo store your work so you can open it again. This information belongs to you.
Your business details: name, address, phone, email, VAT number, payment details, your rates and termsTo print on your quotes and invoices. These are kept on your own device and are not sent to me unless you save a job that includes them.
Your free early access start and end dates, and your planTo run free early access and know whether you can save new jobs
Feedback you choose to send, with your name (optional) and emailTo improve the app and reply to you
Your name (optional), your email and whether you are one person or a team, if you join the waitlist on the front page or in the app. I also keep your answer to the optional tick box for other updates, and the version of the wording you sawTo tell you before free early access ends and when payments open, to send other PriceBench updates if you ticked the box for them, and to check who can have the founding member offer
How long you spend on each quote while the app is openTo understand how the app is used and improve it
The material prices you type into your Price BookTo keep your prices on every phone you sign in on, and to improve the starting prices
Photos you add to reports, and the job name shown to another trade if you give them a share codeTo make your reports, and to let a trade you choose add their part to your job
Emails you send to [email protected]To answer you

The customer details you type into a job are about your customers. You decide what to enter. Please only enter what you need to quote and invoice, and keep to the law on your own customers' information.

I do not use advertising or tracking cookies and I do not run a third-party analytics service. I do record the usage details listed above inside my own database. The app stores your settings, your unfinished job and your sign-in on your own device so it can remember them and keep you signed in. The app needs these to work, so there is nothing to switch on or off.

Who else handles the information

CompanyWhat they do
SupabaseHolds accounts and saved jobs. My database is in London, UK.
ResendSends the sign-up and password emails for your account, and my emails to people on the waitlist.
CloudflareHosts the website and app, and forwards email sent to [email protected] to me.
StripeWill take card payments once online payment opens. Stripe handles your card details; I never see or store them.
Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjsDeliver the fonts and code libraries the app loads. When the page loads, they can see your IP address, as with any website.

I do not sell your information or share it for marketing.

My legal basis

I use your information to provide the service you signed up for (contract). I send the waitlist emails that tell you free early access is ending and when payments open because you asked to be told (legitimate interests: telling people who joined about changes to a service they asked about). I send other updates only because you ticked the optional box to get them (consent), and you can unsubscribe at any time. I use the time spent on quotes and the prices typed into Price Books to improve the app and its starting prices, and I keep the service secure and reply to you (legitimate interests: running and improving a useful, safe service); you can object to this. I keep accounting records for payments when they begin (legal obligation).

How long I keep it

I keep your account and jobs while your account is open. If you ask me to delete your account, I delete it and your saved jobs within one month, and my backups clear within 90 days after that. Payment records, once payments start, are kept for as long as tax law requires. I keep waitlist emails until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete yours, and no longer than 12 months after payments open unless you create an account.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete what I hold about you, and you can object to how I use it. Email [email protected] and I will reply within a month. If you are not happy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Your customers' details

If you put your own customers' details into a job, you are the controller of that information and I look after it for you as your processor, on your instructions. The terms of use explain what I promise. Your customers should ask you first about their information. I can access stored data only to fix a problem or because the law requires it.

Where information goes

Some of my suppliers (for example Stripe, Resend, Cloudflare and Google) may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on approved safeguards such as the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses or the UK-US data bridge.

For the time spent per quote and the prices typed into a Price Book, I am the controller and use them in a combined way to improve the app and its starting prices. They are not shown to other users.

Security

Connections to the site are encrypted. The system is designed so that each account can only read its own jobs. No system is perfectly safe, so please choose a strong password that you do not use elsewhere.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, I will update the date above and tell account holders by email.
